Making Memorabilia

Do you remember your mother or grandmother making you put paint on your hands or feet for a little craft or your teacher making you put your hand prints on an art project to send home to your mom? I just thought it was fun and games. In my childlike state of mind, I didn’t see it as something sweet for them to cherish forever. I never understood the significance of this form of memorabilia until I had a child of my own.

Yesterday my sister hosted a fundraiser at my parents’ church to raise money for the church to have some renovations done. She had multiple canvases for people to choose from. They could either paint a guided demonstrations that she had already prepared or do their own freelance painting. They also had a bake sale in the fellowship hall. It was a pretty fun setup!

I planned on just bringing the brownies and cookies I had made the night before and just watch other people paint. Then my sister had an idea. She had set aside a couple of small wooden hearts for people to paint on. We decided to paint JJ’s little feet and put them on the heart with his name and how old he is. It turned out so cute! I was so happy that we were able to do that!

He wiggled around a little bit, but over all, I think it turned out really cute! We had a lot of fun doing it too! I want to do this with all of my kids and collect them one day! I may have not understood why this kind of thing was so important to my mom when I was little, but now I do. I will definitely cherish this memorabilia! ❤️

Oh this is so cute! I love taking handprint or footprints 👣. I think it would be a great memory when our kiddos grow up!

Sooo adorable. I had my little boys feet cast when he was two weeks and have it framed now. These are so good to look back on. I might do a one-year one now, you’ve inspired me lol
